Nanded: Nanded excise department seizes Illegal liquor, Excise department has seized liquor worth Rs 20 lakh from Dharmabad-based Pioneer Distillery while carrying liquor to Tuljapur for illegal sale.

The state excise department has so far seized illegal liquor worth Rs 20 lakh in four places namely Tuljapur, Hingoli, Nanded, Deglur and Mukhed.

During today’s proceedings, 1,100 boxes of excise duty were taken from Pioneer Distillery in Dharmabad and sent for storage at other places for the purpose of illegal sale. It was later reported that the vehicle had met with an accident.

Out of those 1,100 boxes, 415 boxes were seized by Tuljapur police. Today, the excise department took action and confiscated the remaining liquor worth lakhs of rupees.

In Nanded district, the state excise department has cracked down on illegal storage of liquor and seized goods worth Rs 20.50 lakh. Based on the information received by the team of State Excise Deglur Division, raids were carried out at Eklara in Mukhed taluka and Tamlur in Deglur taluka and Rs 20.50 lakh was seized.

The action was taken under the guidance of State Excise Commissioner Kantilal Umap, Director Smt. Usha Verma, Aurangabad State Excise Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Pawar, State Excise Superintendent Atul Kanade. 1800833333 and WhatsApp no. 8422001133 as well as telephone number 02462-287616, appealed the State Excise Department.

The vehicle carrying 1,100 boxes of excise duty at Balapur in Dharmabad taluka was stored elsewhere for the purpose of illegal sale and later the vehicle was found to have met with an accident at Tuljapur. Of these, 415 boxes have been seized by Tuljapur police and 30 boxes by Hatta police.

The remaining 262 boxes of liquor have been seized by Inspector Deglur at 2 places in Mukhed and Deglur talukas. Three accused in the case have been arrested and remanded in custody for three days.
